Not a fave. Othello seems rather stupidly gullible. And Iago is just so over-the-top-evil that I never really buy it. Although I do enjoy the idea of those swarthy Italians (in the English view) looking down on a Moor who would be racially indistinguishable from other Mediterraneans to the modern eye. Racism just never gets old.
Oh, and I’m surprised by how few quotes came out of this one. I think there were only three I recognized. But the daughter who was reading this for class (another buddy read) was amused by the line “To suckle fools and chronicle small beer.” Oh, yeah, that’s what the perfect woman should be doing. I guess the servants would be in the kitchen making him a sandwich?
