I'm reading this out to the PandaBat and we are both loving it. The narrator's voice is amusing, and the jokes are right up our alley. Most amazing is the timing. Several times so far I've read the text, given the appropriate pause, and the PandaBat has responded perfectly on cue, as if Beaty had transcribed a read aloud. Maybe that doesn't make sense. Anyway, we're both loving it.***One of my favorite bits, which I've got to mention: Kevin's lists. "Famous Last Words" as spoken in horror movies of the past. Genius! And repeated references to SPAM which amuse the budding Monty Python fans as well as me. Did I mention I'm loving it?***The Panda Bat wearied of waiting for me to finish it (sundry holiday-related events kept intruding into reading time; concerts, tree-trimming, snowfall, etc.) and wound it up on her own. Then she gave it to me to finish. I love it. Without going into spoilers, the climax of the book was very-well thought-out. Brilliant, really. Highly recommend to kids and parents who want to share something silly with them.
