My conversation opener is almost always "Read any good books lately?" To my horror, when the title "Endless Love" was the answer, I laughed. Yeah, I laughed at Tom Hulce the year he was up for Amadeus. Anyway, I did go on to read the book which is a very compelling story of an obsessed guy, seriously, disturbingly obsessed. It is way cooler than the Brooke Shields film might suggest.Lessons learned: good books are often made into mediocre films, and one should never laugh at someone else's "good book", especially if one hasn't read it yet. Mr Hulce, it's been twenty five years, and you probably don't remember this at all, but let me say, "I'm sorry."
