Foundation (Book 1)
Honestly, I don't think much of Asimov as a literary stylist in this one. He's still getting his practice in, so he's got a great idea and a mediocre (oh, let's be honest) a *very dull* delivery. But it's a great idea, and he went on to write progressively better books tying it all together.
