Jamaica Inn - Daphne du Maurier

Jamaica Inn - Daphne du Maurier
  1.     DuMaurier is not kind to women in any of her works. She doesn’t include many, and the are for the most part a very passive bunch.  Despite knowing that, this year I’ve devoted my All Hallows horror reads to Gothic, and this is very, very Gothic. There’s lots of blood and horror, people who are not what they seem, and an amazingly isolated home. If I had read it with the fresher eyes of a teen I would have loved it even more. Personal copy.
