The Adventures of Tom Sawyer/The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain Twain has a marvelous facility with words; the man could quip. But the stories he wrote seem all off-kilter, the grim beside the whimsical. And much of Huckleberry still doesn't make sense to me, like folktales that haven't yet been filtered through a professional writer's pen. Which is weird, because Twain was so much a pro.
