Oona's cat, Zook, is in kidney failure, so in one sense you know this isn't going to end well. But during this time Oona is telling her little brother stories about the previous lives of their cat, and is coming to terms with the loss of their father, two years ago. There are happy events, and the stories about the polydactyl cats are great, and the story doesn't end too soon.But still, it could be too sad for some readers, although for others it should be comforting.Library copy.
